With so many recalls on baby gear, it is no wonder parents may want to get rid of old and outdated items for subsequent children.
Toys 'R' Us is offering a great deal for parents looking to clear out old and outdated baby gear for newer models. From January 28, 2011 through February 21, 2011, Toys 'R' Us is having their annual "Great Trade In" event where customers can bring in used baby gear like car seats, cribs, strollers, playards, and more in exchange for 25% off a baby item from select manufacturers in one of the categories participating.
The Great Trade In event is highlighting the importance of ensuring used baby items are safe and drawing awareness against reselling items that may have been recalled previously or deemed potentially unsafe due to modern safety standards.
Families with older gear, such as car seats, who are having more children can benefit from this event. According to SafetyBeltSafe U.S.A., parents should avoid using car seats that are older than 10 years, but should consider replacing after 5 years since car seat manufacturers are constantly updating safety features. Used car seats that were involved in a crash should not be reused. Lastly, check the expiration stamp on the plastic of the car seat to make sure it has not passed.
In light of the recent ban on all drop-side cribs, this is the perfect time for families to exchange them for another crib or a toddler bed and receive 25% off.
